Volume 3 - Mobsters - Farrell, Sadie "The Goat" - The queen of the Waterfront

She was not as fierce with his claws like the dead rabbits' Hellcat Maggie. Nor as big and strong as a bouncer Amazon river named Gallus in May But Sadie "The Goat" Farrell has made more money than both women combined when he was the "Queen of the New York Waterfront".

Sadie Farrell was born and raised in the slums of the Fourth Ward near the East River. As a young girl who hung around with street prostitutes and thieves. Slight of built, but mean and vicious, Sadie roads usually worked around the docks in concert with a male companion, who gave up the muscle it needed. When a brand emerged drunk from a local diving, Sadie wants a run, then rammed the top of the head in the victim's stomach.

This was a dangerous maneuver, since sometimes the person who delivers the header does more damage to themselves that the intended victim. But Sadie was a professional, and did so only the top of his head made contact with intestines of the victim, and not the sensitive areas like the nose and forehead. The stroke of the victim's head stopped in his tracks, and as soon as he turned his attention to Sadie, her male companion used a slingshot to push a rock to the side of the victim's head. If this did not work, a bat or always did the trick sap. Then Sadie and her partner would take everything of value from the brand unconscious, even the shirt, pants and shoes. This was small-time job for Sadie, but still swells its reputation on the East Side docks.

One day, Sadie has made the mistake of having too many belts in the Hole-in-the-Wall bars in Dover Street, just two blocks from the East River. The bouncer at the Hole-in-the-Wall was a female creature of six feet from England named Gallus May May patrolled the bar with a small bat tied to the wrist, which was not reticent to use on unruly customers. If after a few whacks on the head the drunk was still exuberant Mag would then wrap in a headlock, then bite one of his ears, before she threw him out the door. The ear would then go into a jug of alcohol, Mag proudly displayed behind the bar. The vases filled with ears behind the bar was called "trophies of Gallo in May"

Sadie being Irish and Mag being from England was an accident waiting to happen. It is not certain who started the slurs before, but it's a good bet it was Sadie, and that was not a smart thing to do. Mag, who was twice the size of Sadie, Sadie bopped on the head a couple of times with the bat, but Sadie still waved away Mag with a vengeance.

Another is not a smart thing to do.

Sadie May wrap the head with his massive arms, and in a flash, one of Sadie's ears had been detached from the side of the head. Sadie May filed on his back in Dover Street, then deposited ear Sadie in a full alcohol jug, and proudly displayed behind the bar. He may also wrote on the pitcher, "Ear Sadie the Goat."

Disgraced and disheartened, Sadie took his show on the road and ended up on the West Side docks, free around the other side of Manhattan from his former haunts. One day, while wandering around trying to figure out how to make a score, Sadie assisted members of Charlton street gang unsuccessfully tried to board a small sloop anchored in the middle of the river north (now called the Hudson River). Charlton street gang was so inept and disorganized, the ship's crew had no problems beating them back and beat in the process. Sadie figuratively with his expert direction, the band would have done much better than before if it was the leader. So Sadie helped the gang members lick their wounds, and then convinced them with his brain and their muscles, you could really make a team successful.

A few days later, with Sadie leader of the gang, they were able to hijack a much bigger sloop, and the "Jolly Roger" (skull and crossbones) flying from the masthead, the captain Sadie brought the band up and down the rivers of North and Harlem, up to Poughkeepsie and beyond. They broke into small villages; robbing country houses of the poor and the palace on the river of the rich. Because of the great ocean liners and cargo ships were so well protected, Sadie and his crew concentrated on raiding smaller merchant ships up-river, instead.

Sadie was so in his routine "River Pirate", he started reading voraciously about history of pirates and pirate traditions. After discovering that the pirates had once kidnapped Julius Caesar ordered his crew to go on a kidnapping spree in person. In the spirit of the ancient traditions of the pirates, some real, some artificial, Sadie also forced several members of his band to walk the plank, if they have not done exactly as asked.

For several months, Sadie and his crew were extremely successful in their efforts. They stashed their loot in various hiding places, until they were able to dispose of them for hard cash, although the various fences along the rivers of the North and East. One of these fences was Marm Mandelbaum, who through his shop on Clinton Street, is It was said to be the largest enclosure of the entire east coast of the United States.

But all good things must end.

After some home owners were killed by Sadie and Charlton Street Gang, Upstate Hudson Valley residents united and formed a resistance force. People holding ambush Charlton band of the road as it came down, and the police patrolling the port of New York stopped them to plunder the small merchant ships on the North River. Soon, many of the gang member were killed, Sadie was forced to abandon his pirating ways. What was left of Charlton street gang is back to the West Side piers, and soon completely dissolved.

Sadie has decided to return to his old haunts in the Fourth Ward, which has now been hailed as the "Queen of the Waterfront." With the money he had earned from his days piracy, Sadie opened his gin mill.

Shortly after returning to the East Side Sadie docks, the bars Hole-in-the-Wall was the seven murders in just two months the site. Consequently, the New York police close the Hole-in-the-Wall bar for the good. But before last call at the Hole-in-the-Wall, Sadie visited Gallus May The two girls made, and Mag was so kind, she went behind the counter, grab the ear of Sadie brine, and has returned to its rightful owner.

Sadie wore the mozzato ear in a medallion around his neck for the rest of his life.
