James Brown: a strict discipline, a brilliant songwriter, and the night he saved Boston -

James Brown ran a tight ship in terms of his band, choir members and staff. He believed that the public deserved to get the best show we could give and that has always delivered

discipline :. One of the things that was known in terms of its staff that their pay would be docked if they broke his rules for things like being late or their appearance not be exemplary. For example in terms of appearance, a story was about costumes of his backup singers. If the dress of a singer is not switched properly for the services reminds the singer and flash one or two fingers of her. The amount of fingers represented the amount that would be deducted from the payment of the girl. Obviously a singer learned pretty quickly that his salary could be reduced a little 'after a week of shows if he had too many errors. So, in this sense it was a strict discipline, but it is always done with his belief that the public deserves the highest performance and appearance by him and his group

Songwriting :. When it came to songwriting was more than good. E 'was great. Even while running, if you have had an idea for a song would not be unusual for him to tell the group that, after the show or the next day they were going to go into a recording studio and put down some sections of his idea .

James had a philosophy of writing music. A musician once said James sometimes put to an extent that has defied logic musical writing as it was something that just was not done. But James had always said I do not care if it's the way that the music must be written or not. If it sounds good, we're going to register as it is

The Night James Brown Saved Boston :. This goes back to April 5, 1968. was scheduled to appear in concert on that date at the Boston Garden. It just so happened that it was the day after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated.

The mayor of Boston, Kevin White and the City were about to cancel the concert because there were several incidents of riots in cities across America, following the assassination of Martin Luther King . Politicians felt that a concert could have conjured up a revolt and thousands of people in an area the results could be devastating. Others believe that the concert would be a healing of sorts and that it should go ahead as to cancel could also incite unrest. In conversations with James Brown and his ilk officials made the decision to allow the concert to take place.

On the night of the James Brown concert not only he sang, but spoke to the audience. Most of the concert went well until, towards the end some of the closest to the front of the crowd attempted to storm the stage. The officials were afraid that a riot would break out as a result of a shoving incident. Some of the people from the audience who were on stage just wanted to be near him. James took the situation in hand and talked to people. He shook hands and encouraged them to go back and sit down as it was not fair to the rest of the audience if they could not see or hear the rest of the show. She told everyone at the microphone that they and their struggles along the path of life understood. He said he grew up in difficulty and poverty when he was young. But more importantly, he stressed the importance of respect and they want them to respect him, as well as the other and be proud were blacks.

The crowd is back in place and the rest of the concert went on without incident. After the concert was over people left in peace and there have been no incidents outside of the place as most of the concert goers went on their peaceful manner. What James Brown has done for race relations that evening deserves the greatest thanks that can be given.

The following newspapers a day have reported that with the thousands of people at the rally and not an episode of revolt in place that the people of Boston would be very proud of the way in which they themselves managed.

As if we have not learned enough about James Brown listen to this. He was a man man . Although he did not approve of the Vietnam War who has done several shows for overseas veterans because he felt that we should support the troops. And this was during a period in which the American public has been fed with the war and was strongly against it.

In conclusion I can only say that I am proud to write this article about a man who gave so much more than his music for the company. There are many lessons to be learned here for the music students of this talented composer and activist who made it possible for the public to peacefully enjoy a great show.
