I've had many people ask me including companions network administrators, Information Technology Consultants, college students and business owners what is the difference between the Seagate drive and ST31000528AS ST31000524AS Seagate drive?
The only real difference between these two Seagate Barracuda drive is read and write performance. Overall both disks are considered of high quality and have proven to be reliable when used correctly.
I personally use and recommend Seagate Barracuda hard drive and use them when I need reliable SATA drives. They serve their purpose and if they are used correctly in the right environment and situation.
probably will not notice a performance difference between the two different units unless you are using hard drives in a RAID array or array MIRROR and use hard drives to store large amounts of data in which read and write performance is important such as on a file server, database server, mail server, terminal server, or even a web server.
Both hard drives are in the same ball park as far as price is concerned then there is no good reason to choose the slower drives unless you are using the bus to 3.0 Gb / s where it would not be able to take advantage of the fastest hard drive - Seagate ST31000524AS anyway.

As you can see above the only real difference between the two Seagate Barracuda hard drives is the Seagate ST31000528AS has a read / write speed of 3.0 Gb / s, while the Seagate ST31000524AS has a 6.0 speed read / write Gb / s.
Obviously I would prefer the faster hard drive and both are of high quality and reliable for small and medium-sized enterprises and, if configured correctly will make you happy .
When the network or and fellow administrators small and medium-sized enterprises in and around Orlando in Florida and Central Florida turn to me for advice technology and ask me which hard drive between the two models I personally prefer and I would choose the fastest car for thus one / twice the read and write speeds than the Seagate ST31000528AS
